In addition to the protection rash guards provide when worn under a Gi or Kimono, there are many benefits to wearing one.

Sweat

The high intensity of combat sports like Karate often result in sweaty training sessions. The build up of sweat can cause skin irritations and or infections when not absorbed or removed properly.

Rash guards work by to wicking away sweat to keep the body dry, helping to maintain a more regular body temperature. Rash guards help keep the body cool, materials are designed to reduce excess sweat and keep the body from overheating.

Muscle Compression

The tight, lightweight rash guard design instantly provides support for the muscles, compressing them while still allowing agility. Muscle compression is important in helping to prevent injuries.

Material

White Tiger Gi rash guards are made of polyester which naturally wicks away sweat and create a cooling effect.

Rounding up

Rash guards provide a tight, compressive fit which protects the skin against friction with the mat or grappling partner, t-shirts donā€™tĀ  have the same capabilities and do not provide the the same properties as a good quality rash guard.

Ā

Rash guards keep the body cool, dry, and comfortable, t-shirts simply do not.

Itā€™s easy to notice the difference when training in a rash guard versus training in a t-shirt. The t-shirt stays wet with sweat, making it uncomfortable for the fighter and anyone they are grappling with.
